The Ébène Quartet are one of the hottest classical ensembles around, winning audiences worldwide with their unique ability to switch seamlessly from core classical repertoire to jazz and pop music. For their newest album, the four adventurous Frenchmen turn to the music of Mozart, playing two of the six beloved ‘Haydn’ Quartets and a divertimento. The centerpiece is the ‘Dissonance’ quartet KV 465, so-named for the strikingly modern harmonies of its introduction, which the Ébène play here with a gripping sense of tension and release.
