EMI Classics is proud to release Liszt: Transcriptions, a new album from teenage piano star Niu Niu. This impressive and delightful album is framed around Liszt’s Paraphrases and Transcriptions. These are some of the most challenging and rewarding pieces in the piano repertoire, composed by a man who was renowned virtuso pianist as well as a composer.
Niu Niu joined EMI classics at the age of 10 and became the youngest pianist signed to an International classical label. He first showed his musical talent when he was three, and held his first Piano Recital when he was 6 in his hometown Xiamen with great success. Two years later he was admitted into Shanghai Music Academy’s affiliated school with no examination and became the youngest student in that school. Only one year later, his solo piano recital happened in London Wigmore Hall. When he was 10, Niu Niu performed in London the Royal Festival Hall and received high praises from Prince Charles. Currently, Niu Niu is a student at the New England Conservatory.
